Packaging & Labeling Engineer

About the role

The Packaging & Labeling Engineer is responsible for governing, developing, and managing the lifecycle of product labeling and packaging. Acting as the owner of the company's packaging system, the role ensures that packaging – from regulatory compliance and label content to structural design and branding – supports product integrity, operational objectives, and global business strategy. The engineer works collaboratively with Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain to deliver compliant, functional, and commercially successful packaging solutions worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure labels and packaging (primary and secondary) comply with all applicable regulations and standards.
• Approve label content, artwork, claims, and required regulatory information.
• Define packaging specifications to guarantee structural integrity and product protection during storage and transport.
• Support efficient manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution through packaging design.
• Align packaging with company branding and marketing strategies.
• Validate that packaging meets customer expectations, market preferences, and industry norms.
• Lead packaging change management and approval processes.
• Coordinate cross‑functional reviews with Regulatory, Quality, Operations, Marketing, Sales, Procurement, and R&D.
• Manage packaging standardization and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor regulatory and market trends and implement necessary changes.
