Principal Software Engineer – Consulting

About the role

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to lead complex development initiatives within LexisNexis Legal & Professional, part of RELX. The role combines technical leadership, architecture design, and mentorship while collaborating with internal teams and external partners to deliver innovative legal‑tech solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead and primary contact for external technology partners.
• Shape product design and system architecture for scalable legal technology.
• Work closely with customers and end‑users to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Provide expert guidance on coding standards, review complex code, and write technical specifications.
• Diagnose and resolve advanced bugs, performance bottlenecks, and scalability issues.
• Design, implement, and maintain complex data models.
• Mentor and support the growth of other developers on the team.
• Participate in cross‑functional planning and project execution.

Required profile

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.
• Based in Mexico City or willing to commute two days per week to the Reforma office.
• Proven ability to work with diverse teams and external technology providers.
