Quality Engineer – Machining Operations

About the role
Polaris Inc. is seeking a motivated Quality Engineer to support and continuously improve quality systems within its machining operations. The role ensures machined components meet dimensional, cosmetic and functional requirements through robust quality control, statistical analysis and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Lead root‑cause investigations and corrective actions for dimensional non‑conformances, surface finish issues, scrap and customer quality concerns.
- Support new product introduction, APQP, PPAP and production launch activities.
- Collaborate with production supervisors, CNC operators, manufacturing engineers and maintenance teams to resolve quality issues.
- Perform statistical process control, capability studies (Cp/Cpk) and process validation.
- Develop and maintain measurement systems, program CMMs and conduct measurement systems analysis (MSA).
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field.
- 3+ years of quality engineering experience in machining or metal manufacturing.
- Strong problem‑solving skills using root‑cause analysis methods (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, PFMEA).
- Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Required skills
- Machining processes: CNC turning, milling, drilling, grinding and secondary operations.
- Interpretation of engineering drawings, GD&T and tolerances.
- CMM programming and dimensional inspection methods.
- Measurement systems analysis (MSA) and statistical process control (SPC).
- Capability studies (Cp/Cpk) and process validation.
- Precision measuring equipment: micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, CMM systems.
