Quality Operations Coordinator

About the role

The Quality Operations Coordinator will oversee daily quality activities on the shop floor, ensuring that products, processes and systems comply with GM quality standards such as SPQRCE, BIQ and GMS. Working closely with the Quality Operations Manager and shop leadership, the role supports the plant’s overall quality objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor daily quality metrics (DRR, FTQ, GCA, GSIP, internal defects) and trigger escalations or containment actions as needed.
• Validate implementation of quality alerts, JES/SOS/TIS, control plans and manage yard holds, rework verification and stock release.
• Lead or support root‑cause analyses using Red X, 7 Diamantes, 5 Why, Fishbone and track corrective actions to closure.
• Maintain PFMEA, control plans and SIP/Verification Station documentation; coordinate change management for quality‑related process changes.
• Partner with team leaders to coach operators on defect definitions, error‑proofing tools and escalation procedures; represent quality in layered audits and GMS/BIQ walks.
• Ensure all quality activities comply with safety, environmental and regulatory requirements and support audit finding closure.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in manufacturing quality or production operations.
• Upper‑intermediate English proficiency for technical communication and reporting.
• Familiarity with PFMEA, control plans and basic PPAP concepts.
• Knowledge of BIQ/GMS audit concepts and layered audit methodology.
• Experience with problem‑solving tools such as Red X, 7 Diamantes, 8D, Fishbone.
• Ability to analyse data using Excel, Power BI or GSIP reports and translate findings into actions.
