Research Scientist / Research Engineer – Adaptive AI Systems

About the role

We are seeking a Research Scientist / Research Engineer to advance adaptive, efficient, and continuously learning AI systems. The role sits at the intersection of cutting‑edge machine‑learning research and real‑world product impact, focusing on real‑time learning, gradient‑free optimization, and model efficiency. You will work in a research‑driven environment where ideas are validated through production systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop adaptive machine‑learning systems that learn from real‑time feedback and product signals.
• Innovate model and system architectures to enable real‑time learning and adaptive AI behavior.
• Co‑design algorithms that integrate user feedback and product data to improve performance.
• Develop methods for collecting, shaping, and leveraging synthetic and real‑world data.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and research teams to optimise full‑stack system efficiency.
• Define and evaluate metrics tied to real‑world impact and user value.
• Translate research concepts into production‑ready, scalable solutions.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent research experience in computer science or a related field.
• 4‑5+ years of industry experience in machine‑learning or AI research.
• Deep expertise in at least one area such as model efficiency, real‑time alignment, or algorithmic optimisation.
• Strong systems thinking and ability to optimise across the full ML pipeline.
• Experience working in large‑scale industrial or research‑lab environments.
• Excellent collaboration skills and a willingness to experiment with bold ideas.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• Experience with deep‑learning frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
• Knowledge of optimisation techniques, including reinforcement learning from human feedback and fine‑tuning methods.
