Senior Accountant – CPG & eCommerce (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Accountant with deep experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG) and eCommerce to lead the monthly close for a fast‑growing consumer products brand. This fully remote, independent‑contractor position offers high autonomy and the chance to shape accounting processes from the ground up.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end‑to‑end monthly close, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure complete, reliable financial records.
• Manage inventory accounting, COGS calculations, inventory reconciliations and related activities.
• Monitor cash flow and provide visibility into business performance.
• Build, improve and document accounting processes and internal controls.
• Identify discrepancies, operational risks and process gaps, then implement proactive solutions.
• Collaborate closely with operations, supply chain and leadership teams to ensure financial accuracy.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning initiatives.
• Deliver financial analysis and insights to guide business decisions.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of freelancing experience with excellent written and verbal English (C1/C2).
• 6–10+ years of accounting experience, preferably in CPG, manufacturing, inventory‑based or eCommerce environments.
• Proven track record of independently owning the month‑end close process.
• Strong analytical thinking and ability to operate with minimal supervision.

Required skills

• QuickBooks Online or comparable cloud accounting software.
• Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with inventory and purchase‑order management systems.
• Familiarity with cloud‑based collaboration and file‑management tools.
