Senior Accountant

About the role

Alvarez & Marsal is expanding its Financial Restructuring Advisory team in Mexico and seeks an experienced Senior Accountant. You will support a high‑performing team that advises clients on restructuring, turnaround, and bankruptcy matters.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily accounting operations, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports and statements.
• Reconcile bank accounts and balance‑sheet accounts.
• Assist with periodic audits and tax filings.
• Liaise with Accounts Payable, Billing, and other internal departments.
• Generate ad‑hoc financial and operational reports as needed.
• Track financial KPIs, budgets and deliver variance analyses.
• Review payments, payroll, social security, and taxes.
• Analyze costs, pricing, and unit‑level profitability.
• Coordinate with corporate, legal, audit firms, and external institutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of general‑ledger functions and financial reporting.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or NetSuite.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
• Analytical mindset with solid problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
