Senior Accountant – Payroll GL

About the role

The Payroll GL Accountant is responsible for managing payroll‑related general ledger accounts, ensuring accurate journal entries and timely balance‑sheet reconciliations. The role demands strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and solid knowledge of US GAAP.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and post payroll journal entries and ensure correct GL recording.
• Develop detailed balance‑sheet account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
• Analyze account variances, explain fluctuations, and support month‑end close.
• Assist in preparing payroll‑related financial statements and reports.
• Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure seamless expense recording.
• Coordinate cross‑functional analysis and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
• Identify and document process improvements and contribute to internal controls.
• Provide support during internal and external audits and handle ad‑hoc projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (required).
• Master’s degree and CPA certification (preferred).
• 4‑6 years of payroll accounting and GL management experience.
• Experience in a global organization and SaaS industry (preferred).
• Familiarity with ADP, Dynamics AX/D365, and Cognos (preferred).

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of ADP payroll systems.
• Experience with Dynamics AX or D365.
• Experience with Cognos reporting tools.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP principles.
