Senior Accountant – Real Estate Investments (Mexico City)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to lead the accounting function for a leading real‑estate development company in Mexico City. The role focuses on structuring, professionalising, and strengthening financial controls, compliance and reporting across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement robust accounting processes, internal controls and best practices.
• Ensure accurate and timely compliance with all monthly and annual Mexican tax obligations.
• Oversee preparation, analysis and consolidation of financial statements and reports across business units.
• Provide clear financial visibility to support executive decision‑making.
• Identify, assess and resolve accounting discrepancies, compliance gaps and financial risks.
• Lead external audit engagements and follow up on audit findings.
• Drive continuous improvement of accounting systems, policies and workflows.
• Manage reconciliations, tax accounting, trial balances, general ledger accuracy and cash disbursement controls.
• Mentor and develop the existing accounting team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
• Proven experience in accounting, tax compliance and financial reporting within complex organisations.
• Strong knowledge of Mexican tax regulations and SAT requirements.
• Demonstrated leadership in team management and process optimisation.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and organisational skills.
• High ethical standards, ownership and proactive attitude.
• Experience with tax authorities or regulated industries is a plus; real‑estate sector experience preferred but not required.
