Senior Backend Engineer – Fintech Microservices

About the role

We are looking for a senior backend engineer to design, build and operate the micro‑services that power our core fintech products, including card issuing, credit lines, payments and money movement. You will own services end‑to‑end on a polyglot, event‑driven platform, ensuring correctness, idempotency and observability at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend microservices in Go and Java/Quarkus within a domain‑oriented architecture.
• Own the full lifecycle of services: architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring and on‑call support.
• Build event‑driven and REST integrations using Pub/Sub, service‑to‑service REST via a private‑proxy mesh, with strong guarantees around idempotency and failure handling.
• Model and evolve data in MongoDB and SingleStore/MemSQL, ensuring consistency between display and authorization data stores.
• Deploy through CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins) to GKE/Kubernetes on GCP, managing configuration and secrets via GCP Secret Manager.
• Write clean, well‑tested code, participate in code reviews and raise engineering standards.
• Collaborate with product, infrastructure and other backend squads to break down epics into shippable increments.
• Instrument observability (structured logging, metrics, tracing) and use it to debug and improve production reliability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• 5+ years of experience building and operating backend services in production, preferably in banking or fintech.
• Strong proficiency in Go or Java (Quarkus/Spring) and willingness to work across both.
• Solid experience with microservices, REST APIs and asynchronous/event‑driven messaging (Pub/Sub, Kafka).
• Hands‑on experience with cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred), containers, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines.
