Senior Drilling Engineer – Deepwater Operations

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Drilling Engineer to lead the planning, execution support and post‑well evaluation of complex deepwater drilling projects in Mexico. The role covers the full well lifecycle, from concept and design through operational execution and closeout, with a strong focus on safety, operational excellence and cost optimisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed drilling and well construction programs.
• Design casing programs, well trajectories and directional drilling plans.
• Prepare drilling budgets, AFEs and cost estimates.
• Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, DWOP and technical workshops.
• Lead technical evaluations during tendering and support contract management.
• Support offshore drilling operations, ensuring safe and efficient execution.
• Monitor drilling performance, KPIs and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Prepare End‑of‑Well reports and capture lessons learned for future campaigns.

Required profile

• Engineering degree.
• Minimum 8 years of experience as a Drilling Engineer, with proven deepwater drilling experience.
• Strong knowledge of well planning, drilling engineering and operational execution.
• Advanced English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
• Demonstrated HSE leadership, analytical thinking and ability to manage complex projects.

Required skills

• Landmark software (OpenWells, WellPlan, WellCat or similar).
• SAP (desirable).
• Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) knowledge.
