Senior Software Engineer (Python + Distributed systems)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join Scribd’s ML Data Engineering team. The role focuses on building and scaling distributed systems that power metadata extraction, enrichment, and content understanding across all Scribd products. You will work at the intersection of machine learning, data engineering, and large‑scale infrastructure to deliver reliable, high‑quality services for millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain Python‑based distributed services that process hundreds of millions of documents and billions of images.
• Collaborate with applied research, product, and infrastructure teams to integrate ML and LLM‑powered models into production pipelines.
• Ensure system reliability, scalability, and performance at massive scale.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on backend and distributed systems.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and ability to work independently and within cross‑functional teams.
• Passion for building data‑intensive platforms that serve global audiences.
