Senior Tax Analyst

About the role

TC Energy is seeking a Senior Tax Analyst to manage and optimize tax compliance across its Mexican operations. The role combines technical tax expertise with collaboration across finance, legal, and HR teams to ensure accurate reporting and strategic tax planning.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file monthly and annual tax returns using tax authority web tools and internal software, gathering and analyzing relevant data.
• Generate statutory reports such as ISSIF and support the preparation of Dictamen Fiscal.
• Calculate deferred tax provisions under MEXGAAP and USGAAP.
• Review tax treatment of foreign payments and ensure correct accounting.
• Reconcile tax accounts, adjust the general ledger, and manage year‑end tax close processes.
• Assist internal and external tax audits by providing required documentation and reports.
• Support cross‑functional teams (accounting, treasury, AP, legal, HR) on tax‑related matters.
• Lead tax projects related to reforms, fixed assets, and tax incentives.
• Research Mexican tax laws and regulations, analyze findings, and promote continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional tax experience.
• Degree in Public Accounting.
• Advanced English proficiency (spoken and written).
• Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Fluent in both English and Spanish.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• Experience with SAP accounting modules.
• Knowledge of Alteryx and Power BI.
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted data analysis tools.
• In‑depth understanding of Mexican tax laws and MEXGAAP/USGAAP.
