About the role

UPS is seeking a Customs Customer Service professional to apply import/export regulations, classify products, and ensure compliance with international trade programs. The role acts as a bridge between UPS, customers, and government agencies, resolving customs declaration issues, shipping restrictions, and tax matters.

Key responsibilities

• Substantiate product classification decisions using the General Rules of Interpretation, Explanatory Notes, CROSS and other official resources.
• Lead Country of Origin verification projects, contacting suppliers to obtain accurate origin information.
• Maintain and organize product databases and classification data in Excel and Access.
• Enter classifications and supporting documentation into UPS’s proprietary operating system.
• Communicate proactively with customers, providing education on customs procedures and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs and Border Protection regulations.
• Bachelor’s degree or internationally comparable qualification (preferred).
• Experience in international trade, logistics, or freight forwarding (preferred).
• Prior experience with product classification and free‑trade‑agreement determination (preferred).
