Software Development Engineer, Digital and Emerging Markets Payments

About the role

Amazon's Digital and Emerging Markets Payments (DEP) team builds seamless payment experiences for customers in emerging countries such as Mexico, Brazil, Australia, Singapore, and Israel. As a Software Development Engineer you will create new micro‑services and enhance existing ones to improve desktop and mobile checkout flows.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable micro‑services using native AWS services.
• Implement new payment features and integrate them into country storefronts.
• Build monitoring, alarms, and on‑call processes to ensure high availability.
• Collaborate with product, UX, and operations teams to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, source‑control management, and continuous‑integration pipelines.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of experience designing or architecting systems (design patterns, reliability, scaling).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Full‑cycle development experience including coding standards, testing, and operations.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, C++, Python).
• Experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, Lambda, S3).
• Micro‑services architecture.
• Design patterns and system reliability engineering.
• Source‑control tools (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Testing frameworks and operational monitoring.
