Software Development Engineer – Digital & Emerging Markets Payments

About the role

The Digital and Emerging Markets Payments (DEP) engineering team at Amazon builds compelling, easy‑to‑use payment experiences for customers in emerging countries such as Mexico, Brazil, Australia, Singapore and Israel. We are looking for passionate software developers to help design, develop, and operate these payment solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and launch new microservices and enhance existing payment products.
• Leverage native AWS services to build scalable, reliable components.
• Create monitoring, alerting, and on‑call processes to ensure high availability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve the desktop and mobile customer experience.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous integration pipelines.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software development experience (non‑internship).
• 2+ years of experience designing or architecting systems (design patterns, reliability, scaling).
• Full software development life‑cycle experience, including coding standards, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent, or comparable practical experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one programming language.
• Experience with AWS services.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture.
• Understanding of design patterns and scalability principles.
• Familiarity with source control and automated testing.
