Software Engineer – Privacy

About the role
Lyft’s Privacy team is seeking a motivated Software Engineer to design and build systems that make privacy the default across the platform. You will collaborate with engineering, product, legal and compliance partners to develop data redaction pipelines, privacy‑by‑design features and scalable data management solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Write clean, well‑tested, maintainable code following best practices.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to drive organizational privacy initiatives.
- Design, build, and maintain privacy‑enhancing systems and data platforms.
- Lead projects from concept through execution independently.
- Participate in code reviews, knowledge‑sharing sessions and technical talks.
- Develop controls, continuous testing, and remediation strategies.
- Propose architectural improvements to anticipate privacy challenges.
Required profile
- Proficiency in at least one general‑purpose language such as Python, Java or Go.
- Experience with operational or analytical data stores (e.g., DynamoDB, Aurora, Redis, Databricks).
- Strong command of a query language (SQL, Cypher, MQL, PL/SQL).
- Familiarity with distributed systems and ability to learn new technologies quickly.
- Ability to produce clear design documentation and manage workload with senior guidance.
