Surveillance Analyst

About the role

HSBC’s Global Service Center is looking for an experienced Surveillance Analyst to join its conduct and financial‑crime risk team. You will help design, implement and operate surveillance processes that detect market abuse, staff misconduct and counter‑party risk across multiple business lines.

Key responsibilities

• Identify emerging forms of misconduct or market abuse and assess whether current surveillance tools can capture them.
• Collaborate with Product Management and Transformation teams to prioritize and develop new surveillance capabilities.
• Review and triage alerts that have passed an initial offshore filter, ensuring proper escalation and resolution.
• Analyse alerts holistically to improve generation logic and overall efficiency of the surveillance process.
• Conduct investigations requested by regulators, senior management or business units and report material findings.
• Produce regular management information reports and present surveillance outputs at internal control and governance forums.
• Support the rollout of new surveillance tools and models, and assist with audit and control issue resolution.

Required profile

• Proven experience in surveillance, conduct risk or financial‑crime monitoring within a banking environment.
• Subject‑matter expertise in designing and testing surveillance processes.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex trading and communication data.
• Effective communication skills to liaise with front‑office, support functions and regulatory bodies.
