Suspension Structural Design Engineer

About the role

The Suspension BTP D&R Engineer is responsible for the end‑to‑end design, development and release of critical suspension structural components such as stampings, castings and forgings. Working within Underbody Engineering, the role creates 3D CAD models from concept to production and ensures robust in‑house design capability for the suspension team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop high‑quality 3D CAD concepts, alternatives and complete assemblies using CATIA V5/V6 and related tools.
• Produce 2D production drawings with advanced GD&T for dimensional control.
• Perform desktop CAE linear static analyses (stress, strain, deflection) to validate and optimise designs.
• Collaborate with Core CAE specialists for vehicle‑level durability, fatigue and crash sign‑offs.
• Integrate DFM/DFA guidelines for stampings, castings and forgings directly into CAD models.
• Lead technical design reviews with manufacturing plants and tooling suppliers before tool kickoff.
• Maintain engineering foundation documents including DFMEA and SCCAF.
• Drive supplier execution through APQP phases, prototype development, PPAP approvals and final sign‑offs.
• Lead root‑cause analysis and issue resolution using 8D and JIRA during launch.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automotive or Aerospace Engineering.
• Proven experience in 3D modeling of structural components using CATIA (surface and solid).
• Strong knowledge of 2D drafting and GD&T application.
• Basic understanding of desktop FEA/CAE tools for load case evaluation.
