Tax & Compliance Manager

About the role

Baubap is seeking a Tax & Compliance Manager to lead its tax function in Mexico, reporting directly to the CFO. The role focuses on ensuring accurate and timely tax compliance, resolving historical tax issues, and managing relationships with Mexican fiscal authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead federal and local tax compliance, including ISR, IVA, payroll taxes, withholdings, CFDI and informational filings.
• Ensure timely tax filings, payments, reconciliations and maintain supporting documentation.
• Investigate and remediate historical tax issues and control gaps.
• Act as the primary internal contact with SAT and other fiscal authorities.
• Lead tax audits, investigations, disputes and tax controversy matters.
• Coordinate litigation and administrative proceedings with external counsel.
• Develop tax policies, controls, technical criteria and review procedures.
• Provide tax guidance on products, commercial initiatives and compensation arrangements.
• Support potential transition to a SOFIPO and manage external advisors.
• Improve tax processes through automation, ERP capabilities and data validation.
• Lead and develop the tax team while remaining hands‑on in execution.

Required profile

• Strong experience in Mexican tax compliance, remediation and audit management.
• Hands‑on leadership style with ability to work autonomously and roll up sleeves when needed.
• Structured yet adaptable approach to building processes in a fast‑moving environment.
• Excellent communication with internal stakeholders and external fiscal authorities.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of ISR, IVA, payroll taxes and CFDI requirements.
• Experience managing tax audits, investigations and tax controversy.
• Proficiency in ERP tax automation and data validation.
• Ability to develop tax policies, controls and technical criteria.
