Tooling Engineer – Mechanical Parts & Tool Development

About the role

Join a dynamic engineering team focused on mechanical projects, where you will design and improve tooling solutions that meet customer expectations. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of tooling—from design and validation to launch—while collaborating closely with sales, customers, and cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Support qualification and approval of mechanical parts (plastic, rubber, metal, die‑cuts) using the PPAP process.
• Lead part improvement initiatives through APQP and assess tool condition to recommend repairs and refurbishment timelines.
• Coordinate with suppliers to complete tooling milestones, including scheduled refurbishments and urgent repairs.
• Act as technical lead for tool development projects, overseeing DFM to PPAP transitions.
• Assist quality engineers with corrective actions, audits, and supply‑chain quality issues.
• Maintain tooling databases, manage RFIs with suppliers, and contribute to the development of new capabilities such as simulation and mechanical design review.
• Provide high‑level training and knowledge transfer to other engineering departments.
• Travel domestically and internationally up to 35% as required.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience as a Tooling Engineer in a plastic injection molding environment.
• Proven ownership of tooling design, build, validation, and launch activities.
• Strong analytical skills to solve complex engineering problems.
• Ability to work proactively and reactively with cross‑functional and global teams.
