Backend Engineer – Remote (Mexico)

About the role

Yelp is looking for a Backend Engineer to join its remote team in Mexico. You will work on the core services that power Yelp’s web and mobile experiences, helping millions of users discover local businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and ship new features on top of Yelp’s Service Oriented Architecture.
• Iterate quickly using Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment pipelines.
• Write clean, maintainable Python code for backend services.
• Articulate technical vision, execute it, and mentor fellow engineers.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web teams to build elegant, scalable systems.

Required profile

• Several years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong understanding of API design and distributed systems.
• Experience with at least one server‑side programming language.
• Passion for solving scalability, reliability, and performance challenges.
• Fluent English communication, both spoken and written.
