Junior Software Engineer – Financial Markets Technology

About the role

Our client, a leading global investment bank, is looking for ambitious Junior Software Engineers to join the Financial Markets Technology division through the Inspire Academy Programme. The role offers hands‑on experience across trading, risk, market data and business platforms, with structured technical and professional development.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain applications using Java or Python.
• Build APIs, micro‑services and backend services.
• Participate in Agile development cycles, code reviews and testing.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects while collaborating with business users and senior engineers.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines, ETL processes and data transformation solutions for large‑scale financial data sets.
• Utilise SQL and cloud‑based data technologies to support reporting and analytics.
• Monitor critical business applications, investigate incidents, perform root‑cause analysis and support releases.
• Automate operational processes and work with development teams to improve platform stability.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or a related STEM discipline.
• Strong programming skills in Java or Python.
• Understanding of object‑oriented programming principles.
• Knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Passion for technology and continuous learning.
