Legal Counsel – Mexico (4–5 years PQE)

About the role

New Fortress Energy is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its Mexico legal team. The role will support a wide range of legal matters across commercial transactions, energy and infrastructure projects, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and dispute management. You will work closely with senior counsel, internal business units, and external law firms in a fast‑paced, international environment.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate and support execution of commercial and operational agreements.
• Conduct due‑diligence activities for transactions and strategic projects, identifying and escalating legal risks.
• Support formation, maintenance and administration of legal entities, including corporate governance documentation and shareholder records.
• Prepare and file regulatory filings and permits under Mexican law, and assist with compliance, ethics and risk initiatives.
• Assist senior counsel and external counsel in litigation and dispute matters.
• Collaborate with Operations, Finance, HR, HSSE, Procurement and leadership teams to provide cross‑functional legal support.
• Perform additional legal and administrative duties as assigned, and contribute to process‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Licensed to practice law in Mexico.
• 4–5 years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in corporate, commercial or energy law.
• Proven ability to manage multiple legal matters and work with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and mitigate legal risks.
