Logistics Specialist

About the role

The Logistics Specialist (LS) is the primary point of contact for daily transactional operations, working closely with carriers, internal teams and customers to ensure smooth supply‑chain execution. The LS supports ProTrans’ objectives by identifying improvement opportunities and delivering exceptional customer service, including after‑hours support.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate with carriers to confirm pickups, deliveries, address exceptions and perform check calls using ProTrans’ Transportation Management System (TMS).
• Coordinate border‑crossing activities, keep customers informed of customs‑related deviations, and ensure compliance with C‑TPAT regulations.
• Arrange expedited shipments, liaise with the Expedite team and resolve operational issues at customer facilities.
• Escalate service‑level concerns to the Operations Manager and keep customers updated on delays or disruptions.
• Distribute daily, weekly and monthly performance reports.
• Collaborate with Accounts Receivable to ensure timely billing.
• Follow up on tasks from Logistics Coordinators, document activities and manage unplanned customer requests.
• Potentially lead a small work group as a team lead.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of experience in logistics or supply‑chain operations (automotive logistics preferred but not required).
• Strong critical‑thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent customer‑service orientation and ability to interact with multiple management levels.
• Flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing logistics circumstances.
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally within the ProTrans network.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
• Experience using web‑based business intelligence tools.
