Software Engineer (Scala/Java) – Remote (Mexico)

About the role

HERE Technologies is looking for a Software Engineer to join its Automotive Products team, which builds high‑definition maps for autonomous vehicles. You will work remotely from anywhere in Mexico on a scrum team that creates large‑scale, distributed processes for map generation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain code in Scala or Java, following best practices and unit‑testing standards.
• Participate in peer reviews, testing, and defect resolution.
• Gather requirements, design software components, and contribute to process improvements.
• Maintain build pipelines, CI/CD tools, and DevOps processes on AWS EMR.
• Collaborate in an Agile environment to deliver features for HD map publication.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong problem‑solving, debugging, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
• Proficient English communication, both written and spoken.

Required skills

• Scala or Java programming.
• Unit testing, Maven or sbt build tools.
• Object‑oriented and functional programming paradigms.
• AWS services and GitLab.
• Understanding of data structures and algorithmic time complexity.
• Agile development methodologies.
