Special Projects Product Engineer

About the role

The Special Projects Product Engineer joins the Strategic Projects Team to lead high‑impact initiatives that align with business goals, market trends, and emerging technologies. Working cross‑functionally, the engineer translates customer and market requirements into actionable engineering deliverables while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards such as ASHRAE, UL, ASME, and IBC.

Key responsibilities

• Drive end‑to‑end execution of strategic and custom‑engineered product projects, from request intake to delivery.
• Review incoming requests, define technical scope, timelines, and risk assessments.
• Lead selection of products, materials, components, and accessories, confirming suitability and regulatory compliance.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, specifications, drawings, BOMs, and process instructions.
• Coordinate with the PMO to plan production runs, verify process capability, and ensure material and tooling readiness.
• Monitor progress with production, suppliers, and PMO, resolving issues and keeping stakeholders informed.
• Ensure quality through inspections, test plans, root‑cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement of custom project workflows.

Required profile

• Proven experience in product engineering, preferably within HVAC or related mechanical systems.
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance (ASHRAE, UL, ASME, IBC) and safety standards.
• Ability to work collaboratively across sales, R&D, quality, and regulatory teams.
• Excellent communication skills for reporting to senior leadership.
