Assistant Mooring Master

About the role

The Assistant Mooring Master supports the Mooring Master in all mooring, berthing and off‑loading operations on export tankers. The role ensures that marine activities are carried out safely, in line with local and maritime regulations, and that related administrative tasks are completed promptly.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Mooring Master during berthing, mooring and off‑loading of export tankers, following unit‑specific manuals and procedures.
• Maintain readiness and oversee the maintenance of the floating off‑load hose system and tandem hawser system.
• Coordinate with vessel masters, cargo surveyors and on‑shore/off‑shore departments to ensure smooth arrival and departure of off‑load vessels.
• Support the preparation and administration of class and statutory surveys to keep the vessel compliant.
• Monitor operations, report any anomalies to the Mooring Master and contribute to incident reporting and investigation.
• Assist in training personnel on tandem off‑loading operations when required.

Required profile

• Demonstrated high‑standard marine skills and safety behaviour.
• Ability to deputise the Mooring Master and act independently when needed.
• Strong coordination skills with cargo and engineering departments.
• No direct subordinates; works closely with the cargo team.
