Business Development Manager – Utility‑Scale BESS (Mexico)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated and organized Business Development Manager to drive the acquisition and development of utility‑scale battery energy storage system (BESS) projects across Mexico. The role involves building relationships with key stakeholders, identifying opportunities, and closing deals while staying abreast of market conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, qualify and secure utility‑scale BESS opportunities, targeting CFE, IPPs, renewable developers and EPC contractors.
• Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation and technical solution alignment to bid preparation, contract negotiation and deal closure.
• Coordinate with internal technical, legal and finance teams to ensure proposals comply with CENACE grid codes and CRE regulations.
• Monitor Mexico’s energy policy, storage mandates, wholesale electricity prices and competitor activity, delivering regular market insight reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy, Economics, Business Administration or related field; MBA a plus.
• 3–5 years of experience in utility‑scale renewables or storage project development with a proven record of closing large BESS deals in Mexico or similar markets.
• Fluent Spanish (professional) and English (business).
• Local work authorization preferred.

Required skills

• Financial modeling – ability to build basic models and evaluate IRR, NPV and sensitivity drivers.
• Strong understanding of Mexico’s wholesale electricity market, ancillary services and storage revenue stacking.
