Buyer Operations Specialist

About the role

Alibaba.com, a leading global B2B e‑commerce platform, is expanding its sales team in Mexico City. The Buyer Operations Specialist will own a portfolio of high‑value Mexican buyers, driving their growth, retention, and engagement on the platform.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of VIP, big, and rising Mexican buyers, overseeing GMV growth, tier upgrades, and platform usage.
• Proactively reach out to buyers via phone, email, and WhatsApp to build relationships, conduct discovery calls, and convert outreach into active accounts.
• Conduct structured buyer interviews to capture business profiles, revenue, sourcing needs, and pain points, keeping records up‑to‑date.
• Promote buyer benefits such as Pay Later, payment terms, CoCreate, inspection services, buyer community, and AccioWork, matching each benefit to buyer needs.
• Track and report on metrics including tier upgrade/retention rates, terms activation, outreach‑to‑meeting funnel, and GMV contribution.
• Coordinate with logistics, payment, and customer service teams to resolve issues that affect GMV, such as shipment delays or brand concerns.

Required profile

• Fluency in Spanish and English, both written and spoken.
• At least 2 years of experience in account management, customer success, key‑account operations, inside sales, or similar buyer‑facing roles.
• Comfortable with proactive outbound outreach and conducting discovery conversations.
• Strong data orientation, able to track performance via dashboards, KPIs, and spreadsheets.
• Self‑driven, structured, and able to manage a large buyer portfolio in a target‑driven environment.
