Data Engineer – Azure & Big Data Solutions

About the role

We are seeking a senior Data Engineer to design and implement a big‑data solution for a large retail client. The role focuses on processing high‑volume data streams and integrating the new platform with the existing architecture.

Key responsibilities

• Design end‑to‑end data solutions on Microsoft Azure for a retail environment.
• Build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Synapse and Databricks.
• Model data at conceptual, logical and physical levels to support efficient storage and retrieval.
• Integrate data from databases, APIs, message queues and external providers.
• Implement data‑warehousing patterns such as dimensional modeling, star schemas, Data Mesh, Delta Lakehouse and Data Vault.
• Lead cross‑functional engineering teams, define technical strategy and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• 8+ years of overall experience, including at least 1 year in a lead or architect role.
• Readiness to work until 8 pm CET (no overtime required).
• Strong hands‑on expertise with Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse (3+ years).
• Proven ability to design data models and data‑warehousing solutions.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder interaction.
