Drill & Blast Technician

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Drill & Blast Technician to join our mining project teams. The role focuses on applying drilling and blasting principles, ensuring safety standards for explosives, and optimizing rock fragmentation to support operational excellence and sustainable mining practices.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement drilling and blasting plans for open‑pit mining operations.
• Monitor and control the safe handling, storage, and use of explosives in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Analyse rock fragmentation results and adjust methodologies to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
• Collaborate with engineering, geotechnical and operations teams to integrate blasting strategies into overall mine plans.
• Provide technical guidance and training to field personnel on best practices and safety procedures.

Required profile

• Higher education degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of hands‑on experience in drill and blast operations within open‑pit mines.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and resilience in challenging environments.
• Effective teamwork and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to mining sites in Africa.
• French language proficiency is preferred.
