Lead Counsel – Financial Products Legal Advisor

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Counsel to provide legal guidance and thought leadership for our financial products business. The role involves delivering pragmatic, business‑oriented legal solutions while managing risk and supporting strategic initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel to business units and advise on laws, regulations, and industry practices.
• Partner with legal peers to evaluate proposals, applying risk appetite and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with internal functions and external counsel to achieve coordinated outcomes.
• Participate in business planning, contributing thought leadership on legal and regulatory matters.
• Identify, evaluate, and manage legal, regulatory, and reputational risks in partnership with risk teams.
• Oversee day‑to‑day legal activities, monitor complex transactions, and escalate issues as needed.
• Assess risk in business decisions, ensuring compliance with policies and safeguarding the firm’s reputation.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of relevant experience, preferably in financial services or banking.
• Strong knowledge of banking regulations and related legal frameworks.
• Familiarity with international laws, regulations, and industry practices.
• Ability to stay current on regulatory developments and internal policies.
