Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Vehicle Motion Steering (VM‑ST) team in Queretaro, Mexico. In this position you will create innovative mechanical solutions for automotive applications, turning complex requirements into manufacturable designs that enhance product performance.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop 3D mechanical concepts and comprehensive part lists for customized machines and equipment used in advanced manufacturing environments.
• Manage engineering changes in coordination with cross‑functional teams and other departments.
• Ensure designs meet technical, functional, operational and quality requirements through collaboration.
• Maintain product data using PDM systems (Creo Parametric & Windchill) to guarantee design integrity and traceability.
• Define tolerance chain specifications and apply GD&T to achieve precision and performance standards.
• Conduct on‑site acceptance testing and validation at supplier facilities.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities to optimise designs, reduce costs and enhance performance.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, drawings and specifications in line with industry standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in machine design, equipment development or similar mechanical engineering roles.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles, manufacturing processes and industry standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (Creo Parametric or equivalent).
• Experience using PLM/PDM tools such as Windchill.
• Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance chain definition.
• Ability to perform 2D and 3D stack‑ups and tolerance calculations.
