Mechanical Engineer – Ensenada

About the role

Fender Musical Instruments Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its Electronics R&D team in Ensenada, Mexico. You will lead the mechanical design of amplifiers, pedals, pro-audio gear and accessories from concept through production.

Key responsibilities

• Design, analyze and test mechanical components for amplifiers, pedals and accessories to meet marketing and engineering specifications.
• Create and iterate testable prototypes using rapid-prototype technology.
• Develop and build test fixtures for reliability testing.
• Participate in design reviews and collaborate with mechanical engineers, industrial designers, electrical engineers, project and product management, purchasing and manufacturing teams.
• Work with overseas OEM factories, evaluate first-article samples and ensure manufacturability.
• Perform tolerance analysis, FEA simulations and SolidWorks Simulation studies on critical features.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3-5 years of product development experience in electro-mechanical design.
• Strong hands-on attitude; willingness to work in the shop building prototypes and fixtures.
• Good communication skills and basic project planning ability.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (including surfacing and sheet-metal modeling).
• SolidWorks Simulation / FEA tools.
• Design of plastic and sheet-metal components.
• Tolerance analysis and mechanical testing.
• Use of woodworking tools for prototype construction.
