Medical Director - Gastroenterology

About the role

ICON, a global healthcare intelligence and clinical research organisation, is seeking a Medical Director (Gastroenterology) to join its team. The role drives medical initiatives within project teams, guides strategic direction and decision-making, and provides expert medical and scientific guidance to inform project development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic medical leadership and guidance on project teams.
• Offer expert medical and scientific consultation throughout project lifecycles.
• Ensure compliance with ethical, legal and regulatory standards in medical and safety monitoring activities.
• Represent the Medical Affairs Department in business development initiatives.
• Provide operational oversight within the Medical Affairs Department as needed.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with specialization in Gastroenterology.
• Proven track record of medical leadership and consultation in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and ethical standards in clinical research.
• Demonstrated ability to provide operational management in the absence of senior management.
• Advanced English level, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Legal right to work in the country where the role is based.
