Product Engineer

About the role

PHINIA is seeking a Product Engineer to lead the GDI customer engineering effort. You will act as the primary liaison between PHINIA and its automotive customers, ensuring product definitions, packaging, and validation are delivered on schedule and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as Lead Customer Engineer for GDI, managing existing and new customer programs.
• Define product specifications, BOMs, and packaging requirements in collaboration with customers.
• Conduct customer project team meetings, technical reviews, and manage the Statement of Requirements (SOR).
• Release prints and drawings accurately and on time using Team Center.
• Oversee successful validation activities and support supplier component technical reviews.
• Resolve customer returns, warranty claims, and production issues.
• Participate in daily production line meetings (SPQVC) and perform competitive analysis.
• Drive cost‑reduction initiatives with customers and suppliers.
• Collaborate with GS/Core Engineering to capture lessons learned and ensure best‑of‑design practices.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with fuels and hydraulics systems.
• Solid background in automotive engine function and GDI technology.
• Proficiency in CFD, FEA, and vibration analysis.
• Understanding of material properties and precision tolerance components.
• Familiarity with GD&T, manufacturing processes, and design for Six Sigma.
• Experience using engineering tools such as Team Center and DFMEA.
• Knowledge of Six Sigma, Red X, and other structured problem‑solving methods.
