Customs Entry Assistant (Auxiliar Aduana)

About the role

UPS is seeking a Customs Entry Assistant to support the preparation and processing of customs entries. The role involves classifying shipments according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, coordinating with carriers and importers, and ensuring compliance with customs regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare customs entries and forward freight to designated locations, interfacing with international and domestic carriers, overseas offices, and importers.
• Follow up on the clearance process for all prepared entries.
• Communicate documentation discrepancies to clients and supervisors.
• Coordinate freight delivery to designated locations.
• Resolve finance and accounting reconciliation issues.
• Scan entries into the imaging system within required timeframes.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and analyses using various software packages and databases.
• Maintain client relationships and handle weekend/holiday rotation schedules as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma, GED, or international equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working for a customs broker.
• Basic knowledge of customs operations, laws, regulations, and related government departments.
• Customers Broker License – preferred.
• Accurate and rapid data entry skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
