Material Technology Engineer

About the role

Airswift is seeking a Material Technology Engineer for a 12‑month contractor assignment in Mexico City, supporting a major offshore oil and gas development. The role provides technical leadership on material selection, welding, and structural integrity, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and guiding contractors throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and company requirements.
• Monitor and report on the technical integrity of systems and safety barriers.
• Define performance standards and contribute to the project Basis of Design.
• Oversee contractor material selection, specification development, and tender evaluation.
• Implement and manage design verification processes.
• Participate in risk workshops, HAZID, HAZOP, and other HSE reviews.
• Support management of change, operations planning, and documentation.
• Provide input for scheduling, cost estimation, and long‑lead material delivery.
• Travel to contractor sites and offshore locations as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in offshore platform and subsea pipeline projects.
• Strong knowledge of local and international regulatory frameworks.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage multiple priorities.
• Fluent English; Spanish proficiency is a plus.
