Mechanical Engineer – R&D (0-2 years)

About the role

Valeo is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer to join its R&D team. You will support senior engineers on automotive projects, contribute to design documentation, and help drive data‑based decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Demonstrate budget awareness and optimise resource use within assigned projects.
• Assist senior engineers in executing standard‑design tasks (Newness level 1) for automotive components.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and test reports.
• Collect, analyse, and report technical data to support decision‑making.
• Apply established design processes and follow the discipline’s digitalisation roadmap.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of processes and methodologies.
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.

Required profile

• 0‑2 years of experience in engineering activities within the automotive or related industry.
• Engineering degree with a solid understanding of engineering principles.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and best practices.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Eagerness to learn and develop technical expertise.

• Proficiency in computer‑aided design (CAD) tools.
• Data analysis and reporting capabilities.
