Occupational Medicine Doctor

About the role

The Occupational Medicine Doctor provides clinical and consultative services to support employee health, productivity, and safety at Caterpillar. This role involves diagnosing and treating work‑related injuries and illnesses, conducting mandatory health surveillance, and acting as an internal medical advisor.

Key responsibilities

• Perform clinical evaluations, physical examinations, and government‑mandated surveillance exams.
• Diagnose patients based on history, physical exam, and interpret laboratory or diagnostic test results.
• Prescribe evidence‑based treatments and manage medical restrictions.
• Determine work‑relatedness of conditions and assess fitness for duty.
• Collaborate with management, EHS, and other teams to improve employee health and safety.
• Serve as an internal consultant on medical‑related issues.

Required profile

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) in an appropriate specialty.
• Current state medical license or ability to obtain a license in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Experience in occupational/industrial medicine preferred.

Required skills

• Knowledge of organizational compliance frameworks and related policies.
• Proficiency with standard office software (word processing, email, spreadsheets, presentation tools).
• Strong decision‑making and critical‑thinking abilities.
