R&D Mechanical Designer – High‑Voltage Products

About the role

As an R&D Mechanical Designer you will lead the design and development of high‑voltage mechanical modules and components, taking concepts through prototype to series production. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure products meet performance, cost, and timeline targets while supporting global production ramp‑up.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop complex mechanical modules for high‑voltage substations, from prototype to series production.
• Define and execute qualification and validation tests, including first‑article inspection (FAI) for breakers and switches.
• Analyze test results, identify improvement opportunities, and collaborate with quality and testing teams.
• Provide autonomous problem‑solving solutions and escalate critical issues to project management.
• Support local and global production ramp‑up, ensuring compliance with EHS, quality, and management systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Mechatronics Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in product design and development, preferably with electrical equipment or high‑voltage products.
• Professional proficiency in English and/or German; willingness to travel up to 20%.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership mindset.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Creo (ProE).
• Experience with PLM Agile.
