Research Engineer

About the role

This position is a hands‑on research engineering role based in Mexico. You will bridge the gap between research concepts and working systems, building the technical foundations that enable rapid experimentation, validation, and iteration under real‑world constraints.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop experimental research prototypes and sandbox environments that translate conceptual ideas into modular, testable systems.
• Create evaluation frameworks and benchmarking tools to assess decision systems and ensure consistent, rigorous measurement of research outputs.
• Implement experimental architectures and pipelines supporting iterative testing, A/B experimentation, and structured model comparisons.
• Maintain and evolve research infrastructure to guarantee reproducibility, stability, and scalability across teams.
• Collaborate closely with research scientists to turn theoretical models into runnable systems and provide early technical feedback.
• Identify engineering limitations early and help refine research directions based on technical feasibility.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering fundamentals with experience building modular, reliable, and maintainable systems.
• Background working on experimental, prototype‑driven, or research‑adjacent projects, preferably in AI or advanced analytics.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast‑changing research environments where requirements evolve.
• Familiarity with AI pipelines, decision systems, or data‑driven architectures and their evaluation.
• Ability to balance speed of delivery with rigor, ensuring clarity, reproducibility, and technical quality.
• Clear communication and effective collaboration with both researchers and engineers.
