Senior Software Engineering Manager

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead large‑scale, cross‑functional initiatives that have long‑term business impact. You will set technical direction, influence architecture, and work closely with both business and technical partners to deliver secure, scalable software solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Define, design, and deliver large‑scale, cross‑functional projects.
• Partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities, assess risks, and quantify ROI.
• Drive architectural and technology decisions aligned with Mastercard’s strategy and security standards.
• Develop business cases, technical proposals, and present recommendations to senior leadership.
• Lead scenario planning, cost‑benefit analysis, and delivery timeline estimation.
• Conduct Proofs of Concept to evaluate emerging technologies.
• Maintain technology roadmaps and ensure alignment with long‑term vision.
• Provide hands‑on technical leadership, including design and code reviews.
• Establish and improve engineering processes, standards, tools, and best practices.
• Define quality assurance practices to ensure reliable, secure software delivery.
• Mentor and coach engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
• Represent the team during audit, regulatory, and security compliance reviews.

Required profile

• Proven progression from Software Engineer to senior technical leadership roles.
• At least 15 years of hands‑on experience designing and evolving large‑scale, distributed, cloud‑native systems.
• Strong ability to balance hands‑on engineering with strategic leadership.
• Excellent communication skills for influencing senior stakeholders.
