Tool Build Engineer

About the role

Aptiv is seeking a Tool Build Engineer to lead the development and launch of injection‑mold tooling for automotive plastic parts. You will coordinate with product engineers, program managers, tool shops, and global suppliers to ensure tools are delivered on time, within cost, and meet PPAP requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end tooling development for automotive injection molds (RFQ to TMA).
• Coordinate build, release, and transfer of new tools across multiple global suppliers.
• Quote tool builds, manage schedules, and ensure throughput and quality targets are met.
• Perform capacity analysis, support plant tooling strategy, and maintain system documentation.
• Control tooling financials through SAP and track investment.
• Provide executive‑level reporting, risk mitigation, and ensure compliance with customer‑specific requirements.
• Execute tool launch meetings and manage the complete hand‑off to manufacturing sites.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of project administration or tooling experience, preferably in plastics processing or injection molding.
• Ability to read and interpret component and tooling drawings.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong analytical and quantitative problem‑solving skills.
• Fluency in English.

• UG NX (or other CAD software such as SolidWorks, Pro‑E).
• Microsoft Excel.
• Microsoft PowerPoint.
• SAP (tooling financials).
