Accounting Manager

About the role

Viva, a fast‑growing airline in Latin America, is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead critical accounting and financial reporting processes. The role ensures the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial information while maintaining compliance with IFRS and internal control standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes, delivering accurate and compliant reports.
• Oversee accounting for IFRS 16 leases, cash management, provisions, related‑party and intercompany transactions, and aviation taxes.
• Review and approve reconciliations, journal entries, financial analyses and supporting documentation.
• Ensure SOX compliance by strengthening internal controls, supporting audits and implementing continuous improvements.
• Coach and develop a high‑performing accounting team, fostering accountability and collaboration.
• Partner with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Internal Audit, Legal and Operations to provide financial guidance and support business initiatives.
• Drive automation, standardisation and continuous‑improvement projects to increase efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Advanced English proficiency preferred.
• 6+ years of experience in accounting, financial reporting or controllership, preferably in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, especially IFRS 16 (Leases).
• Experience managing financial close processes, intercompany transactions and SOX/internal‑control frameworks.
• Proven leadership experience managing accounting teams.
• Analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Experience in the aviation industry is a plus.
