Advanced Manufacturing Engineer – Research & Industrialization

About the role

The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (AME) will lead the development and launch of manufacturing processes for new automotive interior programs at the Lerma Plant.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimize manufacturing processes, including DFAM, process flow, labor planning, material flow, plant layout, and ergonomic analysis.
• Prepare and present program revisions to the System Development Team (SDT) and support other regional programs.
• Specify, purchase, install, and qualify production equipment and tooling.
• Validate processes against labor targets, output, OEE, and quality standards, and own APQP deliverables.
• Conduct statistical analyses (SPC, MSA, DOE) and value‑stream mapping.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial or Mechanical preferred).
• Bi‑lingual English/Spanish.
• Minimum 5 years of automotive interior experience, preferably with seating products.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional manufacturability reviews and ramp‑up activities.

Required skills

• DFAM and PFMEA development.
• MODAPTS or equivalent training.
• Statistical tools: SPC, MSA, DOE, capability studies.
• Value Stream Mapping and GDT (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• CAD for 2‑D layout drawing.
• PLC programming knowledge.
• Equipment specification, budgeting, and qualification.
• Project management and leadership of supplier/internal teams.
