Cost Down Design Engineer

About the role

You will drive design‑to‑cost initiatives that keep Danfoss competitive in a fast‑changing global market. By identifying engineering improvements, you will reduce product cost while preserving performance, quality and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead cross‑functional cost‑reduction projects that deliver measurable savings without compromising functionality.
• Facilitate idea‑generation and value‑engineering workshops to uncover design simplification and material‑optimization opportunities.
• Evaluate and implement engineering changes that improve cost competitiveness through alternative designs and solutions.
• Collaborate with suppliers, sourcing, manufacturing and global engineering teams to develop and validate cost‑down concepts.
• Drive change‑management activities to ensure successful rollout of new designs and track business impact.

Required profile

• Proven experience in cost‑down engineering, value engineering, design‑to‑cost or should‑cost analysis.
• Strong grasp of mechanical design principles, DFMEA, GD&T, engineering change management and product lifecycle processes.
• Ability to assess design alternatives, materials, manufacturing methods and supplier solutions to meet cost targets.
• Fluent English communication skills and comfort working with global teams and external suppliers.
