Design & Release Engineer – Automotive Accessories & Value Optimization

About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled, business‑oriented Design & Release Engineer to lead the development, implementation and financial optimisation of automotive accessories and performance components. The role acts as the main technical liaison between the OEM and international suppliers, overseeing the product lifecycle from business case approval to market launch.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the end‑to‑end development and launch of automotive accessories, ensuring alignment with vehicle programme schedules.
• Drive Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives, own the commodity budget and track cost‑reduction targets.
• Serve as primary technical contact for Tier‑1 and aftermarket suppliers, handling selection, validation, testing and BOM creation.
• Lead early CAD modelling, 2‑D drawing creation (including GD&T) and packaging feasibility studies using NX/Teamcenter (or Catia).
• Author and maintain core quality documentation such as DFMEA, FMEA and DVP&R to meet functional and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (vehicle, HMI, validation, leadership) to ensure launch readiness.
• Support pre‑production issue resolution, plant launch activities and post‑launch warranty analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics engineering or related field (MBA a plus).
• Minimum 3 years experience as a Design & Release Engineer in the automotive industry, preferably with accessories or performance parts.
• Proven track record in budget management, change management and cost‑reduction projects.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.

Required skills

• NX and Teamcenter (or Catia) for 3‑D modelling and drafting.
• Core quality tools: DFMEA, DVP&R, GD&T.
• Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) and cost‑value analysis.
• Project budgeting, change control (CCD, CN, PER, ICD).
