Development Engineer

About the role

HSBC is looking for an experienced Development Engineer to join its Global Service Center. You will design, build and maintain secure mainframe‑based technology solutions that support the bank’s products and services, working closely with feature teams and the Core Banking Solution Architect.

Key responsibilities

• Design and engineer software with a focus on user experience and security.
• Develop, test and deploy applications that meet performance, availability, and resilience requirements.
• Automate build, testing and deployment pipelines using DevOps practices.
• Ensure compliance with service management standards and maintain high data quality.
• Provide incident support and contribute to continuous improvement of the DevOps pipeline.
• Stay current on cyber‑security, data‑privacy regulations and emerging technologies.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on mainframe development experience, preferably in banking.
• Strong English communication skills.
• Proactive, able to work autonomously and within a team.
• Ability to analyse problems, detect risks and communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
